Who are we? 

Melbourne SOUP is a community crowdfunding initiative. Our events provide a safe-space for ideas that never seem to leave the dinner table, pub stool or shower.

Why we do what we do:

We’ve realised that all it takes is an idea and the right people backing it to change the world. We offer Melbourne residents, community groups, artists and social entrepreneurs a platform to present and potentially receive funding to push them off the starting block. We want to bring Melbourne’s movers and shakers together to generate energy for social change.

How does a SOUP event go down? 

Dinner events are held across the city once every two months. Attendees hear four presentations, receive a bowl of soup, mingle and vote for their favourite idea. The presenter with the most votes takes home the majority of the ticket money towards their idea, and returns to the next SOUP event to share what they’ve been up to.

What the campaign will help with:

This campaign will assist with the bits and pieces we need to establish Melbourne SOUP.

- admin costs to establish Melbourne SOUP as a not-for-profit entity (it costs to do good)

- creating a SOUP kit, buying items such as hot plates, soup pans and voting tokens to run SOUP nights anywhere

- marketing materials such as flyers

- ongoing event costs such as venue hire, soup ingredients and advertising

- topping up the pot of money at future SOUP events - we want to ensure the winning pot of money at least remains consistent from event to event
